smoke and mirrors
Well howdy there m'lovely lasses!
So today, as i've been busy with school, i thought i'd tackle an issue that i have with the glorious season of Winter. Yes, i love the scarves, mittens, hats, coats, boots etc etc, but the one thing i had above all things, is colds. i dislike the runny, sore nose, and on a shallower note, the red patches on my upper lip from constantly swiping at my nose with a kleenex. Eurgh. I went in search of an answer. I consulted my age old Beauty Book (published circa 1998), which, despite loving it most dearly, is severely outdated. It told me to find green foundation/ eyeshadow and put it on the red spot. I, being open minded, decided to try it this evening (you know those moods when you just fancy playing with makeup?! i was in one!:) ), then, in accordance with my book, i applied my foundation normally on top.
Oh dear oh dear.
I looked like a grinch//human hybrid. It was truly awful.
The lesson in this, was to never put anything green on your face to combat redness. I don't really mind if Diana used this trick on her wedding day, the method given was totally wrong.
So...how can we beat these red nosed days? (see what i did there? haha)
Answer is, we can't. We have to accept them as a part of out culture. However, it won't quite stop me from trying. So I turned to the trusty vaseline, the one with aloe vera, waited for it to soak in, and put on my foundation. However, there was an awful oily residue left on my skin, and it looked like i had serious upper lip-sweat issues. Eugh.
So i have settled at this conclusion- just putting foundation over the top will not, i repeat, will not work. However, a healthy slick of vaseline, followed, after about 15 minutes, with a dabble some loose powder, should do the jobby. YAYAY!
Anyway, moving on, i thought i'd give you the results of my oil experiment..DUN DUN DUUUUN!
So, today, i had to deal with the awful oily look of my hair, as i ran out of time to completely rinse it out this morning, so when i got home, the first thing i did was shampoo the bottom of my hair, where i'd put the oil. I dried it naturally, and...woah. Like, genuinely, this stuff is awesome. I've had minimum flyaways and my hair is super sleek. Awww, happy days!:') Changed my parting around a little earlier, as it's just something i do to pass the time, so i took some rather funny faced pictures in my jamas! (Winter= thermal, matching jamas. oooh yeah! smooooooth;)) SO, here are some of my...well, here are some!
Haha, enjoy! Enjoy the remainder of your Mondays ♥

Body Shop Monoi Miracle Oil
Not the most imaginative of titles, granted, however, i've just had a shower and combed my hair, and had a revelation.
I found some Spa Wisdom Body Shop Monoi Miracle Oil in my potions and whatnot cabinet today, and figured, hey, why not give it a go?
On the website, it claims the following: This fragrant oil is inspired by Polynesian spa rituals. It can be used as a body moisturiser, massage oil, bath oil or hair conditioner.

Well, i can certainly tell you, it smells very fresh and floral- so i'm definitely getting the Gardenia. Just saying, my product is quite old, so is called something slightly different, however, same product, same price etc, just from before they relaunched the product. I shampooed and conditioned my hair, then combed it through with a large tooth comb, then got a palmful of product (which is quite liquid, compared to the viscous substance i was expecting! good surprise though:)) and , for want of a better word, jujjed it through my hair. Just ran my fingers through it, to ensure that coverage was even etc.
I smell fantastic, as of this product. As my hairs still wet, i can't quite speak for it's results yet, but it certainly feels very silky and sleek..plus, no natural-dry frizz so far! Can't be going far wrong!
Concerning price, it can be seen quite pricey, at £10 a bottle, but it's one of those bottles that lasts for ages and ages and ages. My cousin bought a miniscule bottle of almond oil for her hair, at £16, and it's still going now..3 months on. So, buying a oil for your hair / body is quite a commitment as it's going to last an aaaage, so you best invest wisely (and like the smell). So far, i'm enjoying this greatly, and although i can't actually remember buying it (probably a present from yonks ago!:L), it's definitely worth the money, and the luxury smell and just velvet-y smooth feel of your hair will speak for itself! I'll post up my results tomorrow morning!
What's your favourite hair oil?! ♥
BTW, i'm aware hair oil has been around for donkeys yeaaars, but i'm just cottoning on now! And i'm glad i have! yum!
OH! If you want to check it out, click here. For those who are very Well, is it a highly rated product?! (don't worry, i am too..), it's 4.8 stars of 5. Need i say more?
♥
